AIMS: Alberta Improvements for Muskuloskeletal Disorders Study

Overall objective to improve the care and quality of life of people with acute and chronic musculoskeletal disorders, and to enhance the appropriate use of healthcare resources.
 

ASTHMA: Alberta Strategy To Help Manage Asthma

A prospective study with multiple stages to determine the current standard of asthma care, formulate and implement strategies to optimize asthma outcomes, and evaluate the impact of these interventions.
 

CANOAR: Canadian OsteoAarthritis Rx program

Assessed the clinical circumstances under which primary care physicians prescribed nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) during osteoarthritis treatment and the appropriateness of NSAID use relative to treatment guidelines.
 

CURATA I/II: Concertation pour une Utilisation Raisonnée des Anti-inflammatoires dans le Traitement de l'Arthrose

An integrated approach to improving the appropriate utilization of anti-inflammatory and gastroprotective medications in the treatment of osteoarthritis in Quebec by implementing continuing medical education sessions.
 

EPIC: Enhancing Practice to Improve Care

A prospective study of the impact of practice management tools used to identify and close care gaps in community practice. Physicians, medical office assistants and nurses will implement patient registries and recall systems to optimize the management of patients with Chronic Kidney Disease. Participating practices will then be able to implement the tools to enhance the care of all patients, especially those with chronic conditions. www.impm.ca/epic.php

Designed to improve the appropriate management of osteoporosis and fall-risk management, via an integrated community based approach to care.
 

ICONS: Improving Cardiovascular Outcomes in Nova Scotia

Designed to measure and improve the quality of care provided to Nova Scotians with cardiovascular disease. Presently operates as a Nova Scotia Department of Health funded program. www.icons.ns.ca
 

MAAUI: Manitoba Anti-Inflammatory Appropriate Utilization Initiative

Described the practice patterns of primary care physicians in the prescription of anti-inflammatory agents for patients requiring chronic therapy and developed and tested educational interventions directed at improving gaps in appropriate prescribing of anti-inflammatory agents.
 

MOMM: Maximizing Osteoporosis Management in Manitoba

Designed to measure the delivery of care to post-menopausal women at increased risk of fracture and/or developing osteoporosis (OP), and then work to improve the diagnosis and evidence-based treatment of OP by developing and implementing data responsive interventions.
 

PAMG: Paediatric Acute Asthma Management Guidelines

Developed, implemented and evaluated the use of a “guideline-reminder card” in the management of acute paediatric asthma.
 

ROCQ: Recognizing Osteoporosis and its Consequences in Quebec

Designed to improve the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis by implementing education programs to women > 50 years who sustained a fragility fracture.
 

VESPA/TEAM: Vers l'excellence dans les soins aux personnes asthmatiques

A comprehensive asthma management model based on a multi-partner approach aimed at empowering patients to improve their clinical status in order to decrease asthma-related morbidity and mortality in the community.
