Patient Health

Health Economics and Outcomes Research

Over the last 30 years, health expenditures have been rising, technological advances have been increasing the pace of innovation and the demand and consumption of health care services and treatments has steadily increased. Health EConomics and Outcomes Research (HECOR) was conceived to study and address these health care issues with respect to the cost, benefit and risk of adopting different treatment strategies in the treatment of disease.

HECOR is principally concerned with the identification, measurement and comparison of costs and consequences of different therapeutic alternatives, where at least one is pharmacologic in nature. It addresses questions regarding which medications are best to treat patients with given conditions which should be included in public and private drug plan formularies in order to improve access for patients.
