Rotavirus

When should my child be vaccinated?

The first dose of RotaTeq® should be administered at 6 to 12 weeks of age and the following doses should be administered at an interval of 4 to 10 weeks between each dose:

The vaccination series must be completed by 32 weeks of age.

You may want to discuss the RotaTeq® vaccine ahead of time, at one of your baby's first visits, for example at the one-month visit.

  • Children become most vulnerable to rotavirus starting at the age of 6 months. This is because the protection they had in the womb starts to wear off, their gastrointestinal tract is starting to mature, and they haven't built up any immunity to the infection, which they tend to do with age.2

  • Therefore, RotaTeq® can help protect infants when they are most vulnerable.
