Pharmaceutical R&D
Partnerships
Academic collaborations provide opportunities for our Pharmaceutical R&D scientists to interact with the broader scientific community, to share their industry-based experience, and to participate in world-class science.
Currently, a number of our R&D staff hold academic appointments. As recognized world leaders in their field, Merck Frosst Canada encourages them to publish in well-recognized journals and interact with their academic counterparts.
The Pharmaceutical R&D department has formal collaborations with, among others, the departments of Pharmacy at Université de Montréal and the University of British Columbia and the department of Chemistry at McGill University. Research-based positions are available at the Montréal site for graduate students and post-doctoral researchers, while shorter hands-on projects are available for
co-op and summer students.
In addition to academia, the Pharmaceutical R&D scientists at Kirkland collaborate with innovative technology companies to develop the products required by industry. Currently, our Formulation Development group is working with a private company to modify its robotics system. The results of these collaborative endeavors will, we trust, benefit the industry as a whole.
